 AWARDS & HONOURS

1.

Dr Shiv Bagga, Assistant Professor, Department of Cardiology at PGIMER won the third prize in the CD presentation award session at the recently concluded National Interventional Council Meeting held in Kochi, Kerala. 

2.

Dr. S. K. Singh (Prof. of Urology, PGIMER, Chandigarh) was adjudged as one of the best papers (posters) at the 27th Annual Congress of European Association of Urology at Paris for his research work entitled "Prophylactic effect of Tribulus terrestris fruits on experimentally induced urolithiasis in rats". .

Dr. Prateek Bhatia, Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatrics, PGIMER, Chandigarh won the 1st prize for his presentation in the Poster session at the 3rd International conference on Hematological Malignancies, which was held at Hong-Kong from 23rd -25th Feb 2012.

Seven doctors and scientists of the Mycology Division from the Department of Medical Microbiology of PGIMER, Chandigarh got awards at the 9th National conference of Society for Indian Human and Animal Mycologists at Siliguri (West Bengal). 

  • Dr Pratibha Kale, a junior resident received prestigious G.P. Agarwal young scientist award for  her work on fungal rhinosinusitis, which is prevalent in agricultural workers of this country.

  • Mr. Prasanna Honnavar, PhD student received the prestigious Kamalam Glaxo award for his work on seborrhoeic dermatitis, a disease highly prevalent in Indian population.  

  • Mr. Hansraj Choudhary, a technologist received the second best poster prize among all doctors and senior scientists. 

  • Dr Anup Ghosh (Assistant Professor) and Mr. Kapil Mukesh (research fellow) shared the 3rd best poster award between them. 

  • Dr Lakshmi Sree, a junior resident received the Mycology Quiz award. 

  • Dr Gagandeep Singh, a pool officer, received the Dr Padhye travel award.

Dr. Pankaj Nepal, Junior Resident, Department of Radiodiagnosis was awarded Dr. S.K. Agrawal Best Paper Award (2nd prize in the oral scientific paper presentation) at the recently concluded SAARC congress of Radiology, organized by Radiological Society of SAARC countries, held at Dharan, Nepal ,on 16-19th Februray,2012.

Dr. Sonu Goel, Assistant Professor of Health Management in School of Public Health has been conferred with fellowship from prestigious Indian Public Health Association (IPHA) during 56th Annual National Conference of IPHA held in Kerala .

7.

Dr. Santosh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Urology, PGIMER was awarded MIUC International Travel Fellowship at Bengaluru by Urological Society of India.

8.

Dr. Ritesh Agarwal, Associate Professor at the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, PGIMER has been awarded "The National Academy of Sciences of India (NASI)-Scopus Young Scientist Award" in the Medicine Category for the year 2011.

Six doctors from the Department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER received the awards at the 65th Annual conference of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association held at Hyderabad. 

  • Dr. Naveen Kalra, Additional Professor received Onco-imaging award of the Indian College of Radiology and Imaging for his research on the role of Radio-frequency ablation in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.  

  • Dr. Manphool Singhal, Assistant Professor received prize for his poster presentation titled 'Unusual causes of hemoptysis: imaging and interventions'. 

  • Dr. J. Satheesh Krishna, Junior Resident was awarded first prize for his work on 'MR enterography' in the diagnosis of intestinal tuberculosis in the competition paper category. Dr. Guru Prasadh Senior resident has been conferred with Dr.N.Ram Dass award. Dr. Chirag K Ahuja, Senior Resident (Neuroradiology) and Dr. Priyanka, Junior resident also received prizes and certificates of merit in their respective poster presentations.

Professor Jagat Ram received the prestigious Prof P. Siva Reddy International Award from All India Ophthalmological Society for 2012 at Cochin during the annual meeting of All India Ophthalmological Society Conference.

Dr.Sanjay Munjal, Ms. Anuradha, Dr.Naresh Panda and Dr.T.Shyam K.Singh were awarded Dayalan Samuel SSV Award for best paper in Audiology "Effects of Cardiopulmonary bypass surgery on auditory functions".

12.

Dr.N.Banumathy, Lecturer in the Department of ENT (Speech & Hearing) was awarded Dr.B.M Abrol Award for best paper in Speech Pathology "Language free assessment tool for childhood Apraxia of speech in difficult to test populations".

13.

Dr Sanjay Kumar Bhadada, Associate Professor, Department of Endocrinology, PGIMER was awarded "SANOFI AVENTIS SENIOR LECTURESHIP IN DIABETES" for Unusual infection in diabetes mellitus in "67th Annual Conference of the Association of Physicians of India" held in Science City, Kolkata.

Dr. Sujit Kumar Pujhari, Senior Research Fellow, Department of Virology, PGIMER was awarded with the prestigious Best Young Scientist Award for his original research work on "Cytokine storm, TNF-α promoter polymorphism and viral load as possible factors for disease progression in Japanese encephalitis patients" during the XX Annual conference of Indian Virological Society (VIROCON-2011) held at Hisar.

15.

Mrs Mrinalini Sharma, a Ph.D. student from the department bagged the third young scientist award for her work on "Adenoviral load in myocardial tissue of patients with dilated cardiomyopathy" which elucidated the viral cause behind myocarditis and dilated cardiomyopathy patients.

Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Head, School of Public Health has been selected by the Government of Australia for the prestigious Endeavour Executive Award for the year 2010 for his contribution to public health.

Prof. S.V.Rana, Professor, Department of Gastroenterology, PGI, received "Best Scientific paper award" for the paper entitled  "Comparison between acetylator phenotype and genotype polymorphism of  N-Acetyltransferase-2 in Tuberculosis patients on ATT " in oral session at Annual Conference of Indian Society of Gastroenterology, held at Kolkata from 9th to 13th December 2009

Dr. Daisy Sahni ,Additional Professor, Department of Anatomy, PGI is awarded with the “Best Scientific paper award" for the paper entitled  "Discriminant Analysis for sex differences in facial soft tissue depth used in facial reconstruction" in oral sessions in biological Sciences during the XVIII All India Forensic Science Conference, held at Kolkata.

Dr Ramandeep Singh, Asstt Prof , Advanced eye center, PGI won Dr JN Pahwa award for  best paper at annual conference of Viteroretinal Society of India held at Mussorie.

20.

Dr Jaspreet Sukhija, Assistant Professor, Advanced Eye Centre, PGI won PREM CHANDRA AWARD for best scientific presentation titled "Pterygium surgery: Graft pasted vs graft sutured", at 21st ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF NORTH ZONE OPHTHALMOLOGICAL SOCIETY which was held at Jammu.

Dr Pawan Gupta, Assistant Professor, Advanced Eye Centre, PGI won  Dr N A Rao award for best paper on "TO STUDY MACULAR PATHOLOGIES IN PATIENTS OF UVEITIES BY SPECTRAL DOMAIN (CIRRUS) OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY." in the 7th Annual conference of Uveitis Society of India held at Guwahati

Dr. Anand S.Vinekar, Deptt. of Ophthalmology was awarded Young Researcher’s Award by the Ophthalmological Society at Bhopal in February 2006.

Prof. K.K.Talwar, Head, Deptt. of Cardiology, was awarded Padma Bhushan by the President of India on 26th January, 2006. 

24.

Dr. Shubh Mohan Singh, Deptt. of Psychiatry won the Bhagwat award of the Indian Psychiatry Society at the 58th Annual National Conference at Mumbai in January 2006. 

25.

Prof. Amod Gupta Deptt. of Ophthalmology was awarded Dr. Daljeet Singh oration award by the Punjab Ophthalmologic Society on December  11, 2005. 

26.

Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Deptt. of Cardiology was awarded Vijay Rattan Award with certificate of excellence for meritorious professional services at a seminar on economic growth and national integration at Delhi on 25th November 2005. 

27.

Dr. Prema Manon was awarded 1st Purushotam Upadhyaya Research foundation award by the Indian Associations of paediatric surgeons at its conference in Bangalore in October,2005.

Dr. H.K.Bali, Deptt. of Cardiology was awarded Gold Medal (The Corps of Engineers Prize) by the Institution of Engineers (India), Kolkata in October 2005. 

29.

Prof. K.K.Talwar, Head, Deptt. of Cardiology, was awarded Basanti Devi Amir Chand Prize(2003) in August, 2005 by ICMR. 

30.

Prof. Naresh K.Panda, Deptt. of  E.N.T. was honoured by the Punjab Govt. with a ‘Praman Patra’ on 15th August,2005. 

31.

Prof. K.K.Talwar, Head, Deptt. of Cardiology was honoured with "Chikitsa Shiromani Puraskar" by the Institute of Economic Study in July, 2005. 

32.

Prof. Meera Sharma, Deptt. of Medical Microbiology was awarded IAM fellow award of Indian association of Micro-plasmologists in Delhi in April 2005.

33.

Prof. K.K.Talwar, Head, Deptt. of Cardiology, was conferred with Rashtriya Rattan award and gold medal by the International Study Circle.

Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Deptt. of Community Medicine  received "Sir Shriram Memorial Award" from National Academy of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. 

35.

Prof. Anil Narang, Head, Deptt. of Paediatrics won the Major Amir Chand gold medal and National Neonatology forum  gold medal. 

36.

Dr. Sourabh Datta, Deptt. of Paediatrics was awarded Major Amir Chand gold medal of the PGIMER  for the year 2005. 

37.

Prof. D. Behra, Deptt. of Pulmonary Medicine received Dr. B.C. Roy award for Eminent Medical Teacher 2004 from Medical Council of India.

Dr. Arunaloke Chakrabarti, Deptt. of Medical Microbiology  was awarded Dr. S.C. Aggarwal award 2005 by Indian association of Medical Microbiologists.

Prof. Neelam Marwaha, Head, Deptt. of Transfusion Medicine, was awarded the ISBTI  J.R. Jolly Award 2005. 

40.

Prof. Ashok K.Gupta, Deptt. of E.N.T. was felicitated with Udhi Devi Gold medal award during the 18th Annual Conference of All India Rhinology Conference.

41.

Dr. N. Khandelwal, Professor & Head, Department of Radiodiagnosis has been awarded with Gold Medal and a plaque for delivering the prestigious "Sir J.C. Memorial Oration" on CT Perfusion in acute stroke during the 61st Annual Conference of "Indian Radiological & Imaging Association" which was held at Bangalore from 17th -20th January, 2008.

42.

Dr ( Mrs) S.V. Rana, Professor, Chief of Clinical Biochemistry, Department of Gastroenterology, PGIMER has been awarded for Poster Presentation titled “Anti-tubercular treatment induced hepatotoxicity in North Indians: Role of Glutathione-S-transferase, N-acetyl transferase-2 and Cytochrome P4502E1 gene polymorphisms”. This award has been presented to her in 20th Annual Conference of INASL held at Guwahati . This study indicates that acetylator status and GSTM1 polymorphism can diagnose the patients in our population who are prone to Anti-tubercular treatment induced hepatotoxicity so that the
treatment can be started accordingly.
