Dr. S. K. Singh (Prof. of Urology, PGIMER, Chandigarh) was adjudged as one of the best papers (posters) at the 27th Annual Congress of European Association of Urology at Paris for his research work entitled "Prophylactic effect of Tribulus terrestris fruits on experimentally induced urolithiasis in rats". .

Dr. Prateek Bhatia, Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatrics, PGIMER, Chandigarh won the 1st prize for his presentation in the Poster session at the 3rd International conference on Hematological Malignancies, which was held at Hong-Kong from 23rd -25th Feb 2012.

Seven doctors and scientists of the Mycology Division from the Department of Medical Microbiology of PGIMER, Chandigarh got awards at the 9th National conference of Society for Indian Human and Animal Mycologists at Siliguri (West Bengal). 

• Dr Pratibha Kale, a junior resident received prestigious G.P. Agarwal young scientist award for  her work on fungal rhinosinusitis, which is prevalent in agricultural workers of this country.

• Mr. Prasanna Honnavar, PhD student received the prestigious Kamalam Glaxo award for his work on seborrhoeic dermatitis, a disease highly prevalent in Indian population.  

• Mr. Hansraj Choudhary, a technologist received the second best poster prize among all doctors and senior scientists. 

• Dr Anup Ghosh (Assistant Professor) and Mr. Kapil Mukesh (research fellow) shared the 3rd best poster award between them. 

• Dr Lakshmi Sree, a junior resident received the Mycology Quiz award. 

• Dr Gagandeep Singh, a pool officer, received the Dr Padhye travel award.

Dr. Pankaj Nepal, Junior Resident, Department of Radiodiagnosis was awarded Dr. S.K. Agrawal Best Paper Award (2nd prize in the oral scientific paper presentation) at the recently concluded SAARC congress of Radiology, organized by Radiological Society of SAARC countries, held at Dharan, Nepal ,on 16-19th Februray,2012.

Dr. Sonu Goel, Assistant Professor of Health Management in School of Public Health has been conferred with fellowship from prestigious Indian Public Health Association (IPHA) during 56th Annual National Conference of IPHA held in Kerala .

Dr. Santosh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Urology, PGIMER was awarded MIUC International Travel Fellowship at Bengaluru by Urological Society of India.

Dr. Ritesh Agarwal, Associate Professor at the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, PGIMER has been awarded "The National Academy of Sciences of India (NASI)-Scopus Young Scientist Award" in the Medicine Category for the year 2011.

Six doctors from the Department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER received the awards at the 65th Annual conference of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association held at Hyderabad. 

• Dr. Naveen Kalra, Additional Professor received Onco-imaging award of the Indian College of Radiology and Imaging for his research on the role of Radio-frequency ablation in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.  

• Dr. Manphool Singhal, Assistant Professor received prize for his poster presentation titled 'Unusual causes of hemoptysis: imaging and interventions'. 

• Dr. J. Satheesh Krishna, Junior Resident was awarded first prize for his work on 'MR enterography' in the diagnosis of intestinal tuberculosis in the competition paper category. Dr. Guru Prasadh Senior resident has been conferred with Dr.N.Ram Dass award. Dr. Chirag K Ahuja, Senior Resident (Neuroradiology) and Dr. Priyanka, Junior resident also received prizes and certificates of merit in their respective poster presentations.

Professor Jagat Ram received the prestigious Prof P. Siva Reddy International Award from All India Ophthalmological Society for 2012 at Cochin during the annual meeting of All India Ophthalmological Society Conference.

Dr.Sanjay Munjal, Ms. Anuradha, Dr.Naresh Panda and Dr.T.Shyam K.Singh were awarded Dayalan Samuel SSV Award for best paper in Audiology "Effects of Cardiopulmonary bypass surgery on auditory functions".

Dr.N.Banumathy, Lecturer in the Department of ENT (Speech & Hearing) was awarded Dr.B.M Abrol Award for best paper in Speech Pathology "Language free assessment tool for childhood Apraxia of speech in difficult to test populations".

Dr Sanjay Kumar Bhadada, Associate Professor, Department of Endocrinology, PGIMER was awarded "SANOFI AVENTIS SENIOR LECTURESHIP IN DIABETES" for Unusual infection in diabetes mellitus in "67th Annual Conference of the Association of Physicians of India" held in Science City, Kolkata.

Dr. Sujit Kumar Pujhari, Senior Research Fellow, Department of Virology, PGIMER was awarded with the prestigious Best Young Scientist Award for his original research work on "Cytokine storm, TNF-α promoter polymorphism and viral load as possible factors for disease progression in Japanese encephalitis patients" during the XX Annual conference of Indian Virological Society (VIROCON-2011) held at Hisar.

Mrs Mrinalini Sharma, a Ph.D. student from the department bagged the third young scientist award for her work on "Adenoviral load in myocardial tissue of patients with dilated cardiomyopathy" which elucidated the viral cause behind myocarditis and dilated cardiomyopathy patients.

Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Head, School of Public Health has been selected by the Government of Australia for the prestigious Endeavour Executive Award for the year 2010 for his contribution to public health.

Prof. S.V.Rana, Professor, Department of Gastroenterology, PGI, received "Best Scientific paper award" for the paper entitled  "Comparison between acetylator phenotype and genotype polymorphism of  N-Acetyltransferase-2 in Tuberculosis patients on ATT " in oral session at Annual Conference of Indian Society of Gastroenterology, held at Kolkata from 9^th to 13^th December 2009

Dr. Daisy Sahni ,Additional Professor, Department of Anatomy, PGI is awarded with the "Best Scientific paper award" for the paper entitled  "Discriminant Analysis for sex differences in facial soft tissue depth used in facial reconstruction" in oral sessions in biological Sciences during the XVIII All India Forensic Science Conference, held at Kolkata.

Dr Ramandeep Singh, Asstt Prof , Advanced eye center, PGI won Dr JN Pahwa award for  best paper at annual conference of Viteroretinal Society of India held at Mussorie.

Dr Jaspreet Sukhija, Assistant Professor, Advanced Eye Centre, PGI won PREM CHANDRA AWARD for best scientific presentation titled "Pterygium surgery: Graft pasted vs graft sutured", at 21st ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF NORTH ZONE OPHTHALMOLOGICAL SOCIETY which was held at Jammu.

Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Deptt. of Cardiology was awarded Vijay Rattan Award with certificate of excellence for meritorious professional services at a seminar on economic growth and national integration at Delhi on 25th November 2005. 

Dr. Prema Manon was awarded 1st Purushotam Upadhyaya Research foundation award by the Indian Associations of paediatric surgeons at its conference in Bangalore in October,2005.

Prof. K.K.Talwar, Head, Deptt. of Cardiology, was awarded Basanti Devi Amir Chand Prize(2003) in August, 2005 by ICMR. 

Prof. Naresh K.Panda, Deptt. of  E.N.T. was honoured by the Punjab Govt. with a 'Praman Patra' on 15th August,2005. 

Prof. K.K.Talwar, Head, Deptt. of Cardiology was honoured with "Chikitsa Shiromani Puraskar" by the Institute of Economic Study in July, 2005. 

Prof. Meera Sharma, Deptt. of Medical Microbiology was awarded IAM fellow award of Indian association of Micro-plasmologists in Delhi in April 2005.

Prof. K.K.Talwar, Head, Deptt. of Cardiology, was conferred with Rashtriya Rattan award and gold medal by the International Study Circle. 

Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Deptt. of Community Medicine  received "Sir Shriram Memorial Award" from National Academy of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. 

Prof. Anil Narang, Head, Deptt. of Paediatrics won the Major Amir Chand gold medal and National Neonatology forum  gold medal.

Prof. Neelam Marwaha, Head, Deptt. of Transfusion Medicine, was awarded the ISBTI  J.R. Jolly Award 2005. 

Prof. Ashok K.Gupta, Deptt. of E.N.T. was felicitated with Udhi Devi Gold medal award during the 18^th Annual Conference of All India Rhinology Conference.

Dr. N. Khandelwal, Professor & Head, Department of Radiodiagnosis has been awarded with Gold Medal and a plaque for delivering the prestigious "Sir J.C. Memorial Oration" on CT Perfusion in acute stroke during the 61st Annual Conference of "Indian Radiological & Imaging Association" which was held at Bangalore from 17th -20th January, 2008.

Dr ( Mrs) S.V. Rana, Professor, Chief of Clinical Biochemistry, Department of Gastroenterology, PGIMER has been awarded for Poster Presentation titled "Anti-tubercular treatment induced hepatotoxicity in North Indians: Role of Glutathione-S-transferase, N-acetyl transferase-2 and Cytochrome P4502E1 gene polymorphisms". This award has been presented to her in 20th Annual Conference of INASL held at Guwahati . This study indicates that acetylator status and GSTM1 polymorphism can diagnose the patients in our population who are prone to Anti-tubercular treatment induced hepatotoxicity so that the
treatment can be started accordingly.

Professor Jagat Ram of Advanced Eye Centre, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh won prestigious International awards in a recently concluded European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS) Conference held at Milan, Italy from September 6-12, 2012. Professor Jagat Ram won this award in the category of Special challenging cases where most innovative and new surgical technique has been performed for the first time anywhere in the world.

Dr Jaspreet Sukhija, Assistant Professor, Advanced Eye Centre, PGI won two prestigious international awards at the recently concluded Annual Conference of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery held in Milan, Italy from 8th to 12th September. He was awarded first prize for the best surgical case presentation in the young ophthalmologist category. Dr Jaspreet Sukhija also won the Orbis International Gold Medal for the best scientific presentation related to treatment and prevention of blindness in the developing world.

 Dr Govind Benakatti, DM  (Pediatric Critical Care) resident, Department of Paediatric Medicine, PGIMER has got Young Investigator Award of European Academy of Pediatrics on the occasion of 4th Congress of the European Academy of Pediatric Societies held in Istanbul, Turkey in October 2012. 

Dr. S.K.Singh, Professor of Urology was awarded Fellow of National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) at the 52nd Annual conference of the NAMS held at Tamil Nadu MGR Medical University, Chennai.

Dr. Dheeraj Gupta, Professor of Pulmonary Medicine were awarded Fellow of National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) at The 52ndAnnual conference of the NAMS held at Tamil Nadu MGR Medical University, Chennai

Three faculty members were awarded membership of National Academy of Medical Sciences for their distinguished work.

•  Dr.Deepak Bansal, Additional Professor, Department of Paediatric Medicine was awarded the prestigious membership for his work in Paediatric Haematology & Oncology.

• Dr.Kusum Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Medical Microbiology was awarded the prestigious membership for research in the area of molecular diagnosis of tuberculosis especially extrapulmonary tuberculosis like intraocular, osteoarticular tuberculosis and tuberculous meningitis.

• Dr Mini P Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Virology was awarded the membership for her research on cervical cancer caused by human papilloma virus, viral infections of the eye and viral hepatitis.

Dr Prateek Bhatia, Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatrics, PGIMER, Chandigarh had been awarded the Young Scientist Travel award of 100,000 Yen by the Japanese Society of Hematology and had been invited to attend their 74th Annual Meeting to be held at Kyoto, Japan in October

Neelima Chadha, Sr. Library & Information Assistant in Dr. Tulsi Das Library, PGIMER was given a "Certificate of Award" as the BEST PAPER PRESENTER during the National Seminar on "Role of Libraries in Promoting Reading Habit in Electronic Environment" organized by Chandigarh Librarians' Association (CLA), Chandigarh and Punjab College Librarians' Association (PCLA), Patiala held at Regional Institute of Co-operative Management, Sector-32 C, Chandigarh

Professor Rajesh Kumar, Head, School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh has been awarded Dr. Siddharth N. Shah Epidemiology Oration by Hypertension Society of India. He delivered the oration on "Epidemiology of Non-Communicable Diseases in India: Hypertension, Diabetes and Coronary Artery Disease" in 21st National Conference of Hypertension Society of India held at Ludhiana.

Dr Ramesh Kumar Sen Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, PGIMER Chandigarh has been awarded 2nd OASAC oration award in the Biennial conference of Orthopaedic surgeons of SAARC countries at Colombo (Sri Lanka) for his scientific contribution in the management of disease of avascular necrosis (AVN) of hip joints.

Ophthalmic Premier League (OPL) Trophy was awarded to Chandigarh team comprising of Captain Prof. Jagat Ram, Prof Arun K Jain and Dr Sushmita Kaushik from Advanced Eye Centre, PGIMER, Chandigarh during 26th North Zone Ophthalmological Society Annual conference - NZOS EYECON 2012, held at Chandigarh.

Prof. K L N Rao, Head, Department of Paediatric Surgery, PGIMER has been awarded Dr K C Sogani Gold Medal for his life time achievements by the Indian Association of Paediatric Surgeons at its 38th Annual Conference at Bhopal.

Ms Manasi Majumdar, Senior Research Fellow, Department of Virology, PGIMER was awarded with the prestigious Best Young Scientist Award in Medical Virology (poster), for her original research work on "Role of TLRs and Cytokines, two central components of Host Immune response, in the immunopathogenesis of viral hepatitis E" during the XXI Annual conference of Indian Virological Society (VIROCON-2012) held at Mukteswar, Uttarakhand.

Dr Surinder Rana, Assistant Professor, Department of Gastroenterology has been awarded the prestigious ISG-J Mitra Endoscopy Award 2012 of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology for his outstanding contributions and research in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy. This award was given to him at the 53rd annual conference of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology held at Jaipur from 28th November to 2nd December 2012.

Dr. Naveen Kalra, Additional Professor, Department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER has been awarded 'Lung India Award 2012' by the Indian Chest Society in the National Conference on Pulmonary Diseases held at Bhubaneswar.This award was given for the best original article titled "Comparison of helical and axial mode indirect computed tomographic venography in patients with pulmonary thromboembolism" published in the journal 'Lung India' in the year 2012

Dr. Dharam Vir, Faculty Speech and Hearing, Dept. of ENT, PGIMER, Chandigarh has been awarded Talented Scientist AWARD for his contribution to Alternative Medicine on the occasion of XXVI NATIONAL MEDICOS CONGRESS organized by five Associations i.e. AIMS, ISDIAM, RSM, FIMSA and AIAMPA at Hoshiarpur on 2nd Dec. 2012 .

Professor S.V. Rana, Department of Gastroenterology, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh delivered prestigious ISG - CM Habibullah Oration, 2012 on Hydrogen breath tests: significance and controversies during 53rd annual conference of Indian Society of Gastroenterology which was held at Jaipur. She was selected for this oration due to her outstanding contribution and research in the field of Hydrogen Breath tests.

Dr.Naveen Kalra, Additional Professor, Department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER, was awarded 'Oncoimaging Innovative research paper award' by the Indian College of Radiology and Imaging, at the 66th Annual Meeting of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA) held at Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Dr. Kalra presented his research titled 'Role of radiofrequency ablation in unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma.'

Dr.Kushaljit Singh Sodhi, Associate Professor, Department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER, was awarded '1st prize' in the proffered papers competition category (chest) for his research paper titled 'Risk versus benefit analysis of preoperative 3D-CT in evaluation of patients with esophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistula' at the same meeting.

Dr.Ravi Sankar V, Resident, Department of Radiodiagnosis, was awarded '3rd prize' in competition category abdomen for his research paper titled, 'Role of perfusion CT in evaluation of pancreatic masses.'

Dr.Guruprasad, Resident, Department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER, was awarded N.Ramdas Best research paper award, by Indian College of Radiology and Imaging.

Dr Manish Rathi, Assistant Professor, Department of Nephrology, PGI, Chandigarh has been awarded a visiting fellowship for Australia. This Indo-Australia Visiting Fellowship Programme is jointly organized by Indian National Science Academy (INSA) and the Australian Academy of Science (AAS) and supported by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and Australian Government Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIISTRE).

Dr. Geeti Khullar, Senior Resident in the Department of Dermatology, PGIMER has been awarded Dr B.B.Gokhale Medal 2012 for best paper for her research on modalities of treatment for vitiligo, commonly known as leucoderma at 41st National Conference of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) held at Ahmedabad.  Her research was guided by Prof.A.J.Kanwar, Head, Department of Dermatology. 

Dr.Sanjeev Handa, Professor, Department of Dermatology has  been awarded the prestigious Indubala Memorial Award for the best original article in the field of Occupational Dermatitis (Hand Eczema) published in the Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology in the year 2012 at at 41st National Conference of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) held at Ahmedabad

Dr. Sanjay Kumar Bhadada, Associate Professor, Department of Endocrinology, PGIMER Chandigarh, has been awarded Prof. Shurvir Singh Visiting Professorship 2013 by the Association of Physicians of India for the year 2013.

Prof. Ashok Gupta, ENT–surgeon of PGIMER, Chandigarh was honored with the Dr. Joe V Desa-Memorial Oration Award at the 65th Annual Conference of the 'Association of Otolaryngologists of India-AOI'.

Dr. Narendra Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Radiotherapy and Regional Cancer Center, PGIMER, Chandigarh has been awarded prestigious International Fellowship for young scientist from ICMR. Dr. Kumar has been awarded this fellowship to work at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, UK.

Prof. N. Khandelwal, Head, Department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER was elected President of the Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (ISVIR)  in the just concluded Annual Conference of ISVIR  held at Coimbatore in partnership with the Society of Interventional Radiology, USA.

Prof. N. Khandelwal, Head, Department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER was awarded the 'ISVIR Gold Medal'  by the the Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology in the just concluded Annual Conference held at Coimbatore in partnership with the Society of Interventional Radiology, USA. This award was given for his untiring services for the exemplary growth of Interventional Radiology in the country.

Dr. Naveen Kalra, Additional Professor, Department of Radiodiagnosis was awarded the best poster award in the technical innovation category for the work titled 'Fusion Imaging with Electromagnetic Navigation in Radiological Interventions'.

Mr. Subhabrata Sarkar, PhD student, Department of Virology, PGI has been honoured with the prestigious 'Best paper presentation award' for his original research work on "Cytokine gene polymorphism and its association with viral Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) in Indian population".

Dr Jagat Ram, Professor, Advanced Eye Centre, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh won “Best of the Best Award” in the category of New Techniques for surgical video in Ophthalmology at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Conference held at San Francisco where more than 10,000 ophthalmologists from over 120 countries participated.  This award is most prestigious for ophthalmologists across the globe as any new innovation in surgical techniques is the bases for selecting videos to be presented for consideration of this award

Prof A J Kanwar Head, Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology, PGI, Chandiagrh has been awarded the prestigious ICMR Lala Ram Chand Kandhari Award for the year 2010 for his work on therapy and other aspects of vitiligo.

Prof RK Dhiman, Department of Hepatology has been selected for the ICMR Awards – “Basanti Devi Amir Chand Prize-2009” to recognize his contribution in the field of Hepatology

Prof.Surjit Singh, Department of Paediatric Medicine has been awarded the prestigious ICMR Chaturvedi Kalawati Jagmohan Das Memorial Award for the year 2010.
