National Symposium on Good Laboratory Practices (GLP),organized
on 28th July, 2012 at LT- complex,
Nehru Hospital, PGIMER, Chandigarh
National Symposium on Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) was organized in PGIMER,
Chandigarh on 28th July, 2012. The symposium was focused on set of
Good Laboratory Practice principles and basic concept that provides a framework
within which studies are planned, performed, monitored, recorded, reported and
archived. The organizing secretary Dr. Bikash Medhi, Additional Professor, Deptt
of Pharmacology PGIMER, Chandigarh elaborate about the program by detailing the
GLP regulation in India and need of such type of training for researchers.
Prof Y.K Gupta, from AIIMS, New Delhi inaugurated the symposium who is the
chairperson of technical committee of the National GLP compliance monitoring
authority. More than 200 delegate attended the symposium, Delegates interacted
with the eminent speakers from the national GLP compliance monitoring authority.
Speakers from the industry as well as from the premier research institutes
illuminated the delegates about the GLP environment, standard operating
procedures, Good Clinical Laboratory Practices and quality assurance in GLP.
Speaker from National GLP compliance Monitoring Authority Ms Ekta Kapoor who is
full time GLP inspector described the need for global GLP and procedure for GLP
certification. Prof K.B Tikkoo from NIPER explained the role of test facility
Management in GLP facility. Dr. Shingatgeri from Ranbaxy illuminated about
conducting GLP studies. Dr Gauri Patel, Dr K.S Pillai explained the quality
assurance and GLP. Dr. S. Rajesh Sundar elaborated the standard operating
procedure in GLP .In the afternoon session, Dr. Jani from Cadila Healthcare
spoke about good clinical laboratory practice. Dr. Vikas Gautam from PGIMER
elaborated about the accreditation laboratory and GLP. In the last session,
Prof. S.S Sharma from NIPER explained about safety Pharmacology and GLP. Role of
GLP in Risk assessment was elaborated by Dr. G.B Jena from NIPER.
