Department Introduction

The Department of Parasitology was the integral part of the Dept. of Microbiology from April 1964 to June 1978 as "Division of Parasitology".  On 1st July 1978 it attained the status of separate and independent department as "Department of Parasitology". The department of Parasitology has been recognized as a member of the Partners for Parasite Control (PPC) under the Programme for Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases, by the World Health Organization and has been sponsored under FIST Program 2007 by the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi. The Department is providing routine diagnostic Parasitology services to Nehru Hospital, PGI, Chandigarh and is actively engaged in academic and research activities.
