Looking from the present interdisciplinary stature of the Biostatistics, aforementioned proverb goes very well with the Department of Biostatistics, an academic department that has been created in the year of 1963 concurrently with all other important medical departments for that the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) awards the Postgraduate Degree.
The creation of the Department of Biostatistics within a medical institute is certainly a visionary step as interdisciplinary role of the statistics was just begun during the Sixties. Such course of action also reveals the zeal and ambition of the founder, who set all to bring the PGIMER within the row of top medical institutions around the world. Thus, it is made mandatory for every MD, MS and Ph.D. students to pass the Biostatistics course to get their respective degrees.
