Computer Section
The Computer section was setup in 1992 when the need
was felt for computerization of various services in the Hospital for efficiency
and raising standards in teaching, research and education. and
it was considered that improved billing and financial records of patients will
enable better recovery of dues and thus help improve financial resources
availability and utilization. Many services in PGI have been computerized like
fee collection counters, library, payroll, Budget Information Management System
, Dak management, etc. Patient information is being maintained electronically in
Allergy Immune Unit (Advanced Pediatric Centre) , Plastic
Surgery Department, Retina Clinic, Cornea
Clinic, etc. Nowadays the work of
Hospital Computerization for setting up a network of around 3000
nodes (approx) covering all department/sections of PGIMER is in full swing. The
work is being looked after by Core Computerization Team which was build from the
existing staff of the Computer section to look after the Hospital
Computerization
Project and the Computer Section was renamed as Computer Services Cell in
November 2004.
