This project was sanctioned in 1985 as multispeciality
300 beds hospital for
children with all facilities under one roof at a cost of about Rs.50 crores.
It was inaugurated by Dr.Shanker Dyal sharma President of India on May
22,1997. There are several specialties for the care of children such as
Allergy Immunology, Haematology and Oncology, Pediatric Neurology,
Pulmonology, Cardiology, Nephrology, Genetics & Metabolism.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: Provides life support to 1000 babies & artificial ventilation to
about 200 babies weighting above 500 gms every year.First DM (Neonatology) training program started in the country.
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit: More than 1000 children receive intensive care including 60 children who
are provided artificial ventilation every year. There is a separate
24 hrs emergency service for children.
This centre also houses
surgical specialties for children such as Pediatric Surgery and
Pediatric Orthopaedics.
