PGI
OF MY DREAMS …….
The PGI
is an Institute of excellence committed to provide high level quality
training programme, medical care and research activities. It is a final
port of call for management of complicated medical conditions when all
other facilities have given up. Moreover, the facilities are accessible to
even Aam Admi. In the words of the Hon’ble Prime Minister
during his convocation address in April, 2005, PGI is
“A jewel of
India”.
We have
highly qualified and vastly experienced faculty, large pool of talented
residents, trained nurses and paramedical staff, a huge infrastructure,
and established systems which have worked well over the years. We need to
further strive to attract and retain the best and discourage mediocrity.
Institute like PGI always faces number of continuing challenges which need
to be constantly addressed if the Institute has to do justice to its
premiere position. There is a need to steadily evaluate our working, face
new realities and find space to overcome them. We require to take
optimum steps to establish upcoming specialties, develop/initiate newer
therapeutic techniques and infrastructure to undertake cutting edge
medical research so as to compete with the best in the country and
abroad.
We have
to understand and appreciate our weaknesses in the systems which are not
patient-friendly. There is a need to adopt work culture of corporate,
exploit available IT technology to adequately meet the requirements of the
patient and their attendant. We need to attract donations/contributions
from the industry and philanthropist to have adequate fund to cater even
to the need of unprivileged society.
Our
mission continues to be - An Institution where medical services are
delivered with professional excellence and human benevolence. We have to
innovate to develop such a model and explore the unchartered vistas – a
challenge to the PGIMER managers and faculty.
“Our
mission is a hospital with hospitality”
