Computer Section
The
Computer section was setup in 1992 when the need was felt for computerization of
various services in the Hospital for efficiency and raising standards in
teaching, research and education. It was considered that improved billing and
financial records of patients will enable better recovery of dues and thus help
improve financial resources availability and utilization. Nowadays the work
of Hospital Computerization for setting up a network of around 3336 nodes
(approx) covering all department/sections of PGIMER is in full swing. Under this
Project the Hospital Information System (HIS) software has been developed by M/S CDAC, Noida. It has to be implemented in three phases:

Phase-I:
Patient
Registration (OPD, IPD, and Emergency), Laboratory Services, Patient Billing,
Blood Bank, General Patient Enquiry, Procurement System and Online Inventory,
Accounts, Administration (HRD).

Phase-II:
Hospital Equipment Maintenance / Infrastructure Maintenance, Clinical Data
Capture (Out Patient Department, In-Patient Department, Emergency).

Phase-III:
Appointment and Scheduling, Diet and Kitchen, Duty Roster, Central Sterile
Supplies Department (CSSD), Support Services (Laundry, Sanitation, Security,
Transport).
Presently
implementation of HIS software is being done at various registration counters,
fee counters and blood bank.
Other
responsibilities of the section are:

Maintenance of Payroll software for preparation of salary and arrears of DA,
pension, etc.

Design,
development, updation of web pages for the maintenance of PGIMER Website.

Internet,
Email facility for the Institute staff.

Organizing Computer Training Programmes and teaching all Group ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’
employees of PGIMER.

Maintenance of Hardware of all department/sections of the Institute.

Network
and software maintenance at all Fee collection Centres and library.
-
Software
maintenance in APC, Plastic surgery, Dak Software in Establishment etc.
-
Tender evaluation, AMC, warranty cases related to computers, spot purchase of
computer and its accessories
-
Data
analysis support to other departments.

Maintenance of Budget Management Information System for preparation of Plan/Non
Plan head wise reports in respect of allocation/expenditure.
Facilities
available
Under the on going Hospital Computerization project the Computer
training Laboratory was set up in March 2004 on the sixth floor,
Research Block 'B'. The lab is equipped with twenty five Pentium IV
computers. The training is compulsory for all faculty and non faculty
members of the Institute. The training is imparted by all the Computer
Section staff members only. After the completion of level I: Basic
awareness of computers training covering the topics like computer
fundamentals, networking concepts, Internet, email and MS Office (Word,
Excel, PowerPoint), the level II training of Hospital Information
Software module will be given to all staff members of the Institute.
